Carnival of Feelings

Questions and Answers

How much is it?

It's free! We will ask for a donation after you've experienced it.

Wait, it's free? I bought a ticket online for $15.

Thank you for supporting the Philadelphia Contemporary Circus Festival and this project! We appreciate your support for interactive art and theater! See Anne, with a clipboard and we will let you skip to the front of the line.

Does it start now/at noon/at 1pm?

It's ongoing and you can start anytime between 1-4p on Saturday or 12-3p on Sunday.

How long does it take?

5-15 minutes depending on how much you want to play and reflect.

I'm under 8, can I do it?

Yes, but we want you to do it with an adult you know.

Do I have to talk about my feelings?

You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. We will ask you about your feelings though, so you can be prepared.

What order should I go in?

It doesn't matter, although we suggest saving the Acceptance tent for last.

Are there prizes?

Yes, but not in the carnival I get-a-thing kind of way. More "I did something and was guided to reflect on it" way.

I have so many comments!

We want to hear from you and you input can help guide us for Stage 2 in September! We also have paper comment cards you can fill out, ask Anne with the clipboard. We are continuing to build this out for Philly Fringe in September and will be adding 3 more game booths. In addition to Denial (Keepy Uppy) and Anger (Pop That), they are based on Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. Do you see the connection?

Are you therapists?

No, we are theater creators and performers with backgrounds in acting, circus, comedy, improv, clowning, dance and fun!

Who made this?

Anne Brashier and Brian Grannan, who have a production company called Stories & Makebelieve. The performers are Malaika Carpenter, Michelle Schuler, Rose Luardo, and Zoe Dixon. The production designers are Caitlin King and Deanna Hagman. Additional support is from Fringe Arts and Cannonball. Anne and Brian are thankful to everyone who has helped get the first stage of Carnival of Feelings into the public!

When can I see it again?

We'll be at the Philly Fringe Fest in September and will be at the Asian Arts Initiative Building. Then there will be 5 game booths + a recovery tent instead of three. The concept will be more apparent because each of the booths will correspond directly with one of the stages of grief.
